Poetry by Sheree Zielke
As an aside, and as an accompaniment for some of my photographs, I like to pen a poem

Ode to a Graveyard
Where iron will fades into sleep
Where fair and foul square off in peace
Where crusty silence greets the morn
Where old is spent and fresh is born.
Where eternal grips with gnarled claw
Where moldy dew taps gentle paw
Where rock grows soft with clinging veil
Where wind entombs her endless wail.
Where steely stillness seeks the sun
Where sweetened dusk is never done
Where tender love creeps bleeding by
Where mothers mourn,
And lovers cry.

Enigma of the Glass by Sheree Zielke

Enigma of the Glass
Something tapped, and something cracked,
Aroused me from my sleep,
A shadow slipped beneath my gaze,
I heard somebody weep.
Again the tap, again the crack,
This time a sainted sigh,
I thought you’d never come, it said,
I’ve waited all my life.
Something moaned, and something gasped,
I saw a vision rise,
Embedded ‘neath the silvery sheen,
And then, I saw the eyes.
Sadness swam in coppery depths,
A yearning leapt between,
No mouth, no smile, no tender touch,
Unseen, unseen, unseen.
My fingers trailed the liquid face,
A trembling shook the mass,
You’ll never be alone, I said,
My enigma of the glass.

Dewdrops in the Dawn by Sheree Zielke

Dewdrops in the Dawn
(dedicated to mothers & children and grandmothers & grandchildren the world over)
I know not what, I know not why,
For those morning dewdrops make me cry.
In awe.
Birthed in groans, before the light,
Those lovely dewdrops are a sight.
To behold.
A tentative touch, afraid to break,
Lovely dewdrops, the Lord doth make.
For us.
To have, and to hold, but not too strong,
For dewdrops change, as days grow long.
Too much.
As the sun raises fiery arms towards the day,
Those tiny dewdrops slip away.
Too fast.
Were I the sun, and in my sky,
I wouldn’t raise my arms so high,
I’d let those little dewdrops lie,
For just a while longer.
Just Is by Sheree Zielke

Just Is
The sky is blue.
The leaves are green.
Not profound.
No hidden meanings.
Just straight up.
Not seeking,
Not searching,
Not wanting,
Anything.
Just is.
